Bearing Services Africa unlocks its future potential with new shareholder, Advanced Mechanical

Advanced Mechanical recently acquired a 70% stake in Bearing Services Africa. The shareholder agreement, which was formalized on April 25, 2022, will see a significant expansion of the SKF Authorized Distributor’s product and service portfolio, opening up vast new market opportunities in bearings and industrial and providing added value to its customers.

Bearing Services was established in January 1999 by Barry Everitt. This marked the acquisition of the first Bearing Services East Rand branch and Bearing Services Alrode as an SKF authorized distributor of bearings and units, seals and related products and services. Grant van Rooyen, who joined Bearing Services the same year, was appointed Managing Director in 2013. In his capacity as Managing Director and under Barry’s leadership, they have grown into a successful operation noting rapid expansion into four key provinces of South Africa, namely; Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Gauteng and KZN. The total number of branches now under the Bearing Services head office based in Jet Park, Gauteng is nine (9) branches.

Barry recently made the decision to retire and sold his shares of Bearing Services to Advanced Mechanical. Grant owns 10% of the company’s stock, with the remaining 20% ​​held by BBBEE.

Advanced Mechanical, led by Group CEO Ben Naidoo, holds a number of exclusive dealerships in South Africa for global premium brands.
